Sailing Away?

So plans have changed. Over the last year we have been studying and making plans to go to Japan.

But with the language issues, culture shock, and now the virus, plans have changed. Thanks to YouTube we have learned about cruisers and cruising on the ocean.  I am not talking about a giant party ship with 10k people crammed aboard. I am talking about a catamaran we hire a crew to take us on a journey someplace warm and with some paradise for a week or so. Thanks to Project Atticus, Parlay Revival and Sophisticated Lady they show what real life is like working and living on a boat. We want to learn the lines and also have a good vacation with a small group of experienced sailors and crew. I want to catch a fish learn to filet and cook it, snorkel in clear water, swim in the warm salt water, watch sunrise and sunsets and learn how to run/operate a catamaran and navigate a ship. We are both excited as we try to find a group that does this kind of private working fun vacation. We are not ready to buy and run our own boat, but want to learn and have fun. Sailing life by real people

Since before the quarantine, my husband and I have watched YouTube videos to learn new things. One day I was was looking for a show about resin work and stumbled upon Project Atticus. Jordan and Desiree and how they worked and restored their boat for years then set sail. I know nothing about cruising nor boating but after watching these two we learned a ton. How they go about budgeting, fixing things, provisioning and meal making and life on the water. And oh the places they go. 

We learned about how to organize every single tool and spare part on your boat and how many and its location in a bin on the boat. Truly admire Jordans organizing skills for a small working living space. 

The fresh cooking Desiree makes on the boat makes your mouth water.

And they travel together and have real life problems most couples have to learn to deal with. And it is not scripted by Hollywood, this is real life on the water in a boat.

The best parts are the sea, underwater, marine life shots. The coral, the dolphins, the rays, the sharks, sunken wrecks and more. They live on the sea and in the sea.

They fish and spearfish to get food. They trade with locals for food and see things most tourist do not see nor do, world culture.

If you have any interest in the ocean and sailing or mechanics this is worth watching. I think one day we just might have to go and try this cruising life for a little while.
