Egg Grenade

Photo taken by Henry Hargreaves
This morning I was again checking on my broody duck and her clutch in the coop. Nothing has hatched in her nest in over a month and the nest is full of eggs. My male ducks are molting right now so the eggs are not fertilized. But I gave the duck the benefit of doubt just in case. This morning I moved mama duck so I could see any hatches. BAM sulfur bomb all over me and the nest and the coop.Gleefully mama duck snatched up the broken shells and ate the sulfur egg. I walked out of the coop covered in egg sulfur. Every fly and vulture in the area moved in to follow the aroma. I still had to plant taro and ginger, while a swarm of flies followed me around the garden. I should know better but I really wanted some ducklings this spring. I will have to shove some duck eggs under a hen instead. The broody hen hatches the ducklings and I raise them indoors, works best on my farm. My ducks are just not good mamas. My hens are great at hatching.

Pleco Me

This is one of two of our remaining fish. Both are catfish including this guy a plecostomus. We have had him for 3 years and he thrived while everything else died or was eaten in our 75 gallon freshwater tank. Thanks to some chemical we added that had gone over and poisoned the tank.
But I digress, this fish looks so cool. He has been at the bottom of the tank for years. But he has gotten bigger and now likes to suck on the side of the glass. So I can see his pretty cool belly patterns.

I miss my outdoor catfish koi pond in Houston, TX. We built this when I was in a wheelchair. So I could wheel around outside and still have fish.

But we did take our indoor tank with us to Missoui. It stayed in storage with the live rock for about 7 years. Then we hauled it into the house and set up fish. We had clown loaches, koi, goldfish and pleco. Gonna tell your right now koi poop a lot. So we got biggest filters and pumps we could for indoor tanks that are quiet. But the koi got too large and they had to be given to a pond owner. Then we accidentally poisoned out tank and everything died over the winter except the catfish. Then our new fish plans all stopped when the virus struck. But these two catfish thrive and our tank is back to normal status. And I get to see fish belly.

Sailing life by real people

Since before the quarantine, my husband and I have watched YouTube videos to learn new things. One day I was was looking for a show about resin work and stumbled upon Project Atticus. Jordan and Desiree and how they worked and restored their boat for years then set sail. I know nothing about cruising nor boating but after watching these two we learned a ton. How they go about budgeting, fixing things, provisioning and meal making and life on the water. And oh the places they go.
We learned about how to organize every single tool and spare part on your boat and how many and its location in a bin on the boat. Truly admire Jordans organizing skills for a small working living space.
The fresh cooking Desiree makes on the boat makes your mouth water.
And they travel together and have real life problems most couples have to learn to deal with. And it is not scripted by Hollywood, this is real life on the water in a boat.
The best parts are the sea, underwater, marine life shots. The coral, the dolphins, the rays, the sharks, sunken wrecks and more. They live on the sea and in the sea.
They fish and spearfish to get food. They trade with locals for food and see things most tourist do not see nor do, world culture.
If you have any interest in the ocean and sailing or mechanics this is worth watching. I think one day we just might have to go and try this cruising life for a little while.
If you like sailing life and want to lend them support go here.
If you want to follow them on Facebook got here.
And watch the first episodes so you get to see how they got where they are today. It is a wild ride and lots of hard work.

China, you so greedy

Today my husband and I were talking about current events and what is going on the world. We have the talks once in a while. I never read the newspapers and we do not have TV. We do both  read on line news and talk to our friends all over the world. So while everyone all over the world is quarantines and worried about money, job and food this is what China is up to.
My husband pointed out that Chinese government is currently buying up every world shipping docks. They own most of Hollywood and are buying up world real estate in the US, Italy and Spain, etc. Buying up every commercial shipping dock worldwide means Chinese government controls what comes in and goes out. Think about that for a moment and what that means for world trade and power. China loves power and control over its people and now soon the world.
Anyway, I go back to what I do best, planting vegetables and raising poultry. At least I can eat my Chinese crested duck if he gets too pushy.
